Cardinals have one of the league’s longest playoff win droughts

The first round of the NFL playoffs had some important wins for a trio of franchises. The Cleveland Browns, Buffalo Bills and Tampa Bay Buccaneers all ended long playoff winless streaks. The Bucs had not won a postseason game since 2007. The Bills had not won since 1996 and the Browns last won a playoffs game in 1994.

They were three of the longest droughts in the league.

Now that they are off that list, the Arizona Cardinals actually find themselves with one of the longest streaks without winning a postseason game.

Mark Lane compiled the list of the teams with the longest postseason win droughts for Touchdown Wire. The Cardinals are tied for ninth with the Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos. All three teams last won a postseason game in the playoffs following the 2015 season. The Cardinals beat the Green Bay Packers in the divisional round, the Panthers beat the Cardinals in the NFC Championship Game for their last win and the Broncos beat the Panthers to win the Super Bowl.

Neither the Broncos nor the Cardinals have even returned to the postseason since. The Panthers made the playoffs in 2017 but lost in the first round.

The longest win drought in the postseason still belongs to the Cincinnati Bengals, who last won a playoff game in 1990, although they have played in the postseason seven times since then. The Detroit Lions are next, who last won in 1991 when Barry Sanders was on the team.

No other team has a streak that goes back before the year 2000.
