Cardinals give touching send-off to employee set for Army deployment

Shutdown Corner

Leo Longoria, a member of the kitchen staff at the Arizona Cardinals’ facility, is a member of the Arizona Army National Guard who is set to deploy overseas on Tuesday evening.

Before doing so, he stopped by the facility to say goodbye to his co-workers. What he received in return was much more than that.

According to the team website, Cardinals executive chef Stacey Weber told team president Michael Bidwill about Longoria’s upcoming deployment. So the team gave him a proper send off from the entire organization.

Watch this:

“We wanted to show our appreciation for all that you do, for this organization, but most importantly, your commitment to serve our country,” Cardinals head coach Steve Wilks told him.

Wilks also told him he would have a job waiting for him when he returned to the States.

How cool is that?

“It shows that I have a caring place where I work, and that’s amazing,” Longoria said. “Having seen all the guys out there and going through all this, that was awesome. It warmed my heart.”
