Cardinals expected to release WR Robbie Anderson

In what is a surprise to nobody, the Arizona Cardinals are expected to release wide receiver Robbie Anderson, reports NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport.

The Cardinals acquired Anderson in a midseason trade with the Carolina Panthers, agreeing to send a sixth-round selection in 2024 and a seventh-rounder in 2025 for Anderson.

He did not work out in the second half of the season, catching only seven passes for 76 yards in 10 games.

Anderson is due a $3 million roster bonus after the start of the new league year, $200,000 in workout bonuses and $8.8 million in salary.

Cutting him before the bonus is due will save the Cardinals $12 million against the salary cap. There will be no dead money incurred from his contract.
