The reserve is for players who either test positive for the virus or it has been determined they have had close contact with someone who has.
Banjo missed Wednesday’s practice, sitting out with a hip injury. He has been the team’s starting safety since Jalen Thompson reinjured his ankle. However, Thompson is expected to be back in the lineup, so Banjo’s loss might not be felt on defense. His presence, though, will be missed on special teams.
If he was placed on the list because of close contact, he will be out at least five days. If he has no positive tests, he can return after five days, meaning he could play if the Cardinals make the playoffs with a win over the Rams.
Banjo played in 13 games this season, logging 48 tackles, one tackle for loss, one quarterback hit and one pass breakup. He also had two interceptions that were nullified by penalties.
