The Arizona Cardinals announced two roster moves on Monday morning on the offensive line. One was the return of Max Garcia.

He returns to the Cardinals for a third season, agreeing to a one-year deal for 2021.

It is the third offseason in a row he gets a one-year contract from the Cardinals.

He signed in 2019 after four seasons with the Denver Broncos, where he started 41 games.

He was recovering from a torn ACL when he joined the Cardinals in 2019 and, after coming off the physically unable to perform list, he appeared in seven games off the bench. He appeared in 14 games for the Cardinals in 2020, playing 69 offensive snaps.

He plays guard and center, giving Arizona veteran depth. His addition would seem to suggest the team will either trade or release Mason Cole at some point.

Cole, who was the team’s starting center last season, will be replaced by Rodney Hudson, for whom the Cardinals traded last week. If Garcia is back, Cole’s spot on the roster, especially when he is due to earn more than $2 million this season, makes him expendable.
