The St Louis Cardinals and Milwaukee Brewers reached the MLB playoffs on the final day of the regular season.
The Cardinals overcame the Brewers 5-2 to head to the postseason for the second straight year.
The Brewers needed the San Francisco Giants and Philadelphia Phillies to also taste defeat – and they got that on Sunday.
The Giants fell to the San Diego Padres 5-4 and the Phillies were beaten 5-0 by the Tampa Bay Rays.
That meant the Brewers (29-31) got into the playoffs ahead of the Giants (29-31) thanks to a better record against divisional opponents.
