Cardinals add 5 players to roster from practice squad for game vs. Bears

The Arizona Cardinals announced a number of roster moves Saturday afternoon to set the roster for their Week 13 game against the Chicago Bears.

Between signings and elevations, they added five players from their practice squad.

They lost rookie safety James Wiggins, who has missed three games with a knee injury. He was placed on injured reserve, which means he will be out at least three games.

for the third week in a row, they signed long snapper Beau Brinkler and running back Tavien Feaster from the practice squad to the active roster. Brinkley is the only long snapper on the roster, as Aaron Brewer must be on injured reserve at least one more game. Feaster is needed because Jonathan Ward was placed on the COVID list this week.

The Cardinals also elevated three players from the practice squad — cornerback Jace Whittaker and linebackers Joe Walker and Tahir Whitehead.

Whittaker’s addition could be to fill Wiggins’ role on special teams, but it also could be because cornerback Byron Murphy is unable to play. He is officially questionable for the game with a foot injury he suffered Friday.

If Murphy can’t play, then Marco Wilson and Robert Alford will start with Antonio Hamilton playing in the slot, while Whittaker would play on special teams.

Walker and Whitehead have been elevated previously and will play on special teams.

Walker and Whittaker are standard elevations, while Whitehead is a COVID-19 replacement elevation.
