Cardinals activate Trent Sherfield from COVID list, make other roster moves

The Arizona Cardinals, who had their first practice of the week to prepare for the Los Angeles Rams this weekend, announced a number of roster moves Wednesday.

They get back one player from the COVID list, a couple of players getting close to returning from injured reserve and a practice squad signing.

Sherfield was placed on the COVID-19 reserve last week. It was presumably for having had close contact with fellow receiver Larry Fitzgerald, who reportedly contracted the virus. His presence on special teams was missed on Sunday against the New England Patriots. He is back, giving the Cardinals five receivers available.

Fotu and Peterson were both designated to return from injured reserve. Peterson suffered a concussion against the Miami Dolphins and has not played since. Fotu suffered an ankle injury and was placed on IR on November 14. This now allows them to practice. They can be reinstated to the active roster anytime between now and 21 days from now. If not, they revert to IR and are out for the season.

Baylis was released on Monday from the 53-man roster. He has since cleared waivers and is now back on the practice squad. Baylis has been signed to the active roster and has played the last two games. He could have the same thing happen again this weekend.
