Captains lose slugfest at Cedar Rapids
Sep. 2—The visiting Captains lost in a slugfest Sept. 1 at Cedar Rapids, 11-7.
A six-run inning in the bottom of the fourth by the home team was too much for Lake County (59-62) to overcome.
Cooper Ingle had a big night for the Captains with two hits and four RBI. Kahlil Watson (two hits, two runs scored, two walks) hit a home run, as did teammate Tyresse Turner, who connected for a two-run shot.
Watson also stole three bases and has 25 this season.
Aaron Davenport — who took the loss and fell to 5-10 this season — started and had a rough outing for the Captains. He went 3.2 innings, allowed 11 hits, eight earned runs and struck out four.
Cedar Rapids banged out 16 hits, including two home runs, three doubles and a triple.
The team continue their series on Sept. 2. First pitch is scheduled for 7:35 p.m.
