Alex Ovechkin attends Washington Football Team season opener originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington
The "Great 8" took in the sights and sounds of the Burgundy and Gold's season opener at FedEx Field on Sunday.
With a full capacity allowed in Landover, Maryland for the first time in 630 days when Washington hosted the Giants in Week 16 action during the 2019 season, Capitals star Alex Ovechkin was there to support Washington's bout against the Chargers.
The Caps' all-time leading goal scorer was spotted in attendance in a box suite via his wife's, Nastasiya, Instagram stories, along with his 3-year-old son, Sergei.

It's becoming a tradition to see Ovi at FedEx Field to start the season, and he'd probably attend more had it not be for the coinciding NHL season during the fall. Ovechkin has attended each of the Burgundy and Gold's home openers since 2017, with last year being the exception due to the pandemic.
With a customized Ovechkin jersey with his famous No. 8 on the back, perhaps Ron Rivera could find a way to field the 6-foot-3, 236-pound freak of nature.
