Capitals, Rangers work four-player trade

The Washington Capitals acquired forwards Adam Chapie and Joe Whitney from the New York Rangers on Friday for forward John Albert and defenseman Hubert Labrie.

Washington assigned Chapie and Whitney to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, while Albert and Labrie are headed to the Hartford Wolf Pack of the same league.

Whitney, 30, has played in five career NHL games. He scored one goal while playing in four games for the New Jersey Devils in 2014-15 and played in one game for the Devils the previous campaign. He had 19 points (nine goals, 10 assists) in 40 games for Hartford this season.

Chapie, 26, had seven points (two goals, five assists) in 31 games for Hartford. Earlier in the season, he registered 17 points (eight goals, nine assists) in 11 games for the Greenville Swamp Rabbits of the ECHL.

Albert, 29, played in nine NHL games for the Winnipeg Jets in 2013-14, scoring one goal. He had 11 points (three goals, eight assists) in 33 games for Hershey this season.

Labrie, 26, had seven points (one goal, six assists) in 35 games for Hershey.
