Greetings from "Can't Wait For Saturday," your morning morsel of college football, courtesy of longtime Illini beat writer, AP Top 25 voter and Heisman state rep Bob Asmusssen. He'll give you his views each day on the game he loves.

In CWFS's weekly picking contest, he was closest to the 25-21 final with his prediction of Wisconsin 21, Illinois 17.

Trent edged Bruce Baker of Morris, who called it Wisconsin 20, Illinois 17. Bruce is a Class of 1980 UI grad.

"I will gladly give up a shot at the Papa Del's if the Illini can get another one," Bruce wrote.

Had Illinois held on for the win, there was a logjam among those who picked the home team.

Obviously, no game this week and I'm not going to ask you to predict some other Big Ten matchup. Unless we go with Michigan vs. the NCAA. The latter seems to be undefeated.

The entry box is open now for the Illinois-Minnsota game. But feel free to wait to see how the Gophers do this weekend against Michigan State before turning in your score.

A reminder, send your predicted score to asmussen@news-gazette.com. Include your name and where you live now. If you are an Illinois alum put that in too. And add any comments you want included. As long as they are free of salty language.

Thanks for your participation this season. Tell your friends to enter.
