Imagine Tom Brady slumping and falling off the bench as he laughed with his New England Patriots teammates. It's a new era in New England with Cam Newton, but it's starting well. The Patriots improved to 2-1 with a decisive 36-20 win over the Las Vegas Raiders.
Draymond Green tells Paul Pierce to 'shut up' about LeBron originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington Never one to back down from a fight, or any controversy, Warriors star Draymond Green is making headlines again after going after former Celtics star Paul Pierce. Pierce, who spent a season in Washington late in his career, made waves saying players in the NBA today are scared of LeBron James, and that his generation of players were never scared. Green, who of course is a member of the current generation of stars playing against James, didn't appreciate this comments.
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow had an injury scare in Week 3 against the Philadelphia Eagles after taking a big shot while throwing on the run and leaving the game. Burrow, throwing off one foot, got blasted high by an Eagles defender and officials immediately flagged the play. Ryan Finley entered the game for Burrow (and promptly got blasted while trying to throw a block), but the backup stayed in for just a single play before the No. 1 overall pick returned (and promptly took a sack on third down to end the drive).

White responded to a recent tweet in which McGregor posted screenshots of a private messaging conversation between the two earlier this year. McGregor was tweeting about how he had asked for a fight with Diego Sanchez and how the White quickly shot down the idea.
The autumnal French Open got off to an inauspicious start when Victoria Azarenka refused to continue playing her first-round match against Danka Kovinic because of the conditions. Rain was in the air and the wind whipping up the clay on a deserted Court Suzanne Lenglen as Azarenka began her contest with Montenegrin Kovinic wearing a jacket. After three games, which all went with serve, a chilly Azarenka sat down on her chair and demanded to see the supervisor.
It took until the final day of the season, but the Minnesota Twins are the champions of the AL Central for the second straight season. The Twins needed a win or a Chicago White Sox loss on Sunday to lock up the division — and they some some help. The White Sox fell to the Chicago Cubs, 10-8, despite a furious late rally.
Foles came in, and in the fourth quarter, he led a huge comeback against the Falcons, who will face a lot of questions about whether coach Dan Quinn will be their coach in Week 4 after a second straight collapse. The quick hook for Trubisky made it seem like Nagy was waiting for any reason to make the switch. If that was the case, it doesn't make much sense to make Trubisky the starter to begin the season.
Jerami Grant has a $9.3 million decision to make: opt-in and take that cash in hand, or become a free agent and try to get more on the open market. After an impressive playoff run where he averaged 11.6 points a game and played strong wing defense for the Nuggets — guarding Kawhi Leonard and then LeBron James — Grant is expected to choose the open market, reports Mike Singer of the Denver Post. A league source suggested Grant could command anywhere from $14 million to $16 million annually over several years.
A wild final day in the National League ended up with the St. Louis Cardinals and Milwaukee Brewers locking up the final two postseason berths, and San Francisco Giants and Philadelphia Phillies going home disappointed. Entering play Sunday, all four teams had a chance for their seasons to continue under a number of scenarios. The Cardinals took care of business, beating the Brewers 5-2 in a game the winner advanced to October — and soon thereafter, the Brewers snuck in with some help.
The Mitch Trubisky era may go down as one of the most forgettable, and damaging, in Chicago Bears history. After being selected as the first quarterback in a draft class that yielded Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson, Trubisky's inconsistencies were finally too much for coach Matt Nagy to handle in Week 3 against the Atlanta Falcons. Trubisky was benched.
Tom Brady threw three touchdown passes and Shaq Barrett celebrated his homecoming with a pair of sacks, one for a safety, in Tampa Bay's 28-10 victory over the winless Denver Broncos on Sunday. With his first road win for the Bucs (2-1), Brady evened his career record against the Broncos at 9-9 with just his fifth win in a dozen trips to Denver. Before Sunday, the Broncos were the only team in the NFL with a winning record against the six-time Super Bowl champion.
Los Angeles Lakers coach Frank Vogel was smiling when he was asked what it felt like to finally reach the NBA Finals for the first time, after getting into the league in 2001. ''I actually came in in '98,'' Vogel said, offering a polite correction. Phil Jackson, Pat Riley, Paul Westhead, Bill Sharman and John Kundla all won championships in their first seasons as Lakers coach, and now Vogel has the chance to join that group.
Longtime NBA star Allen Iverson made waves this week on the "All The Smoke" podcast when he said he wants to see Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo join the Golden State Warriors. In all seriousness, Giannis on the Warriors would be scary. When Kevin Durant teamed up with Steph Curry, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson, the Warriors formed one of the most intimidating, successful dynasties in NBA history, even if it only lasted a few seasons.
For the first time in six years, the Cleveland Browns have a winning record. ''We gotta start changing history and our legacies right now,'' defensive end Myles Garrett said. But the shot, which made the rounds on social media, is simply the famous golf course's traditional September look.
