'You can't ignore the numbers'
On the latest episode of BBC Radio Solent's Cherries: Unpicked podcast, the team have been discussing striker Dominic Solanke's England aspirations.
The 26-year-old already has six Premier League goals this season, but was not included in Gareth Southgate's latest squad.
"I've seen 'Solanke for England' so many times on social media in the past few days," said commentator Kris Temple.
"Six in 12 - he's only behind Callum Wilson when it comes to English strikers in the Premier League.
"You can't ignore the numbers. Personally, I wouldn't say he is there [at England level] yet. Bournemouth fans will tell you his level without the goals has been the same for the past 18 months.
"The way England play and set up with Harry Kane as the only central striker, there isn't really a Solanke number 10 role where he's going to be ahead of any of the talented other players. He needs the goals to be in the England picture.
"Solanke for England? No, not at the moment. But a goal every other game in the Premier League - he's already equalled his best ever tally in the Premier League.
"The nature of the finishes, the striker's instinct - he's close."
