Trivia Time: Can you name these MLB players without their beards?
Modern baseball is a fan of the beard. Look around the league — particularly in the bullpens, but everywhere really — and there’s a good chance you’ll see a lot of hair dangling off the faces of ballplayers these days. It’s a reflection of society today, as beards are back among everyone from musicians to chefs to regular ol’ dads.
A beard doesn’t just happen overnight. Most of the bearded folks we see in baseball today, there was a time when they weren’t that way. In this week’s installment of our weekly Trivia Time quiz, we’re looking at players before they became the bearded wonders we know them as. Some are current players, some haven’t been in the league for a few years.
Can you identify them without the beards? Some of these aren’t too tough — everybody should get No. 1 — but some might make you think. Are you ready?
So how’d you do?
If you got 10, you’re a beard expert; 7-9 and you’re a respectable beard boss; 4-6 and you passed. Less than that and it’s time to go get the clippers and shave yourself in shame.
