Monarchs top Week 7 Rankings

Mater Dei is the number one team for the sixth week as we enter the seventh full week of football in Southern California.

Here are the rankings of our Week 7 rankings (prior week’s rankings in parentheses).


1. Mater Dei (6-0) (1)

The Monarchs beat Santa Margarita 70-35. J.T. Daniels threw for 362 yards and 6 touchdowns. Chris Street had 92 rushing yards and 2 scores, while Glenn Harper had 129 rushing yards and a score. Chris Parks and Amon-Ra St. Brown each had 2 receiving touchdowns and 100+ receiving yards.

They play St. John Bosco at El Camino College on Friday.


2. St. John Bosco (5-1) (2)

The Braves beat Orange Lutheran 42-21. DJ Uiagalelei had 159 passing yards and 3 touchdowns. Re-AL Mitchell had 92 rushing yards and 2 scores.

They play Mater Dei at El Camino College on Friday.


3. Centennial (4-1) (3)

The Huskies beat Roosevelt 72-33. Tanner McKee had 286 passing yards and 3 scores and added 209 rushing yards and a touchdown. Octavio Cortes had 2 rushing touchdowns while Gary Bryant added 149 receiving yards and a touchdown.

They host Santiago on Friday.


4. Mission Viejo (7-0) (4)

The Diablos beat Tesoro 42-6. Joey Yellen threw for 303 yards and 3 touchdowns passes. Akili Arnold had 190 rushing yards. UCLA commit Olaijah Griffin had 130 receiving yards and a touchdown, while Washington commit Austin Osborne had 101 yards and 2 scores. Shaun Javier-Rhodes had 2 rushing touchdowns.

They play at San Juan Hills on Friday.


5. Chaminade (5-1) (5)

The Eagles had a bye. They play at Loyola on Friday.


6. Long Beach Poly (5-1) (6)

The Jackrabbits beat Cabrillo 49-0. Michael Mauai had 167 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns. Matt Corral threw for 157 yards and 3 touchdowns. Kejuan Markham had a receiving touchdown and kickoff return for touchdown.

They play at Compton on Friday.


7. JSerra (6-0) (8)

The Lions beat Servite 52-36. Matt Robinson threw for 92 yards and 2 scores and added a rushing touchdown. Al Fisher had 280 rushing yards and 2 scores.

They play Orange Lutheran at Orange Coast College on Friday.


8. San Clemente (6-0) (10)

The Tritons had a bye. They host Tesoro on Friday.


9. Upland (6-0) (NR)

The Highlanders enter the rankings following their 30-23 win over Rancho Cucamonga. David Baldwin threw for 105 yards and 2 touchdowns. Taj Davis had 141 receiving yards and a touchdown. Leshaun Potts threw for a touchdown and had 2 receiving scores. Justin Flowe returned a blocked punt for a touchdown, had 16 tackles, and an interception.

They host Damien on Friday.


10. Rancho Cucamonga (5-1) (7)

The Cougars lost to Upland 30-23. Nick Acosta threw for 262 yards and 2 touchdowns. Sean Dollars had 81 rushing yards and a touchdown. Jeremiah Criddell had 135 receiving yards and 2 scores.

They play at Los Osos on Friday.
