Monarchs tops Week 5 Rankings

Mater Dei is the number one team for the fourth week as we enter the fifth full week of football in Southern California. Here are the rankings of our Week 5 rankings (prior week’s rankings in parentheses).

1. Mater Dei (5-0) (1)

The Monarchs beat St. Mary’s of Stockton on Saturday 52-14. J.T. Daniels threw for 226 yards and 5 touchdowns. Chris Street and Cal commit Nikko Remigio had 2 touchdowns each. Stephen Robbins had 2 interceptions on defense. They have a bye this week.

2. St. John Bosco (4-1) (2)

The Braves beat St. John’s of Washington D.C 21-17. George Holani had 2 rushing touchdowns and a receiving touchdown. Super sophomore DJ Uiagalelei threw for a touchdown. They have a bye this week.

3. Corona Centennial (3-1) (3)

The Huskies had a bye. They have a bye this week also.

4. Mission Viejo (5-0) (4)

The Diablos beat Santa Margarita 28-23. Joey Yellen threw two touchdown passes, one to UCLA commit Olaijah Griffin and one to Akili Arnold. Arnold also added a rushing touchdown. They host El Toro on Friday.

5. Chaminade (4-1) (5)

The Eagles beat Crespi 39-7. Ryan Stevens threw for 312 yards and 2 touchdowns. Andrew VanBuren had 2 rushing touchdowns and Michael Wilson added 94 receiving yards and a touchdown. They host Serra on Thursday.

6. Long Beach Poly (3-1) (6)

The Jackrabbits beat Millikan 28-0. Matt Corral threw for 152 yards that included 2 touchdowns to Jalen Hall and Camren McDonald. They host Wilson at Veterans Stadium on Friday.

7. Rancho Cucamonga (4-0) (7)

The Cougars beat Citrus Hill 30-0. Justyn Alexander had 80 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns. They are at Victor Valley on Friday.

8. JSerra (5-0) (8)

The Lions beat Los Alamitos 32-10. Matt Robinson threw for 283 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Tarik Luckett and Abdul-Malik McClain each had over 100 receiving yards and a touchdown with McClain’s 117 besting Luckett’s 109. They have a bye this week.

9. Servite (5-0) (9)

The Friars beat Garfield 49-14. Tyler McMahon threw for 163 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also added a rushing touchdown. Delon Hurt had 105 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns while Jake Overman had 103 receiving yards and a score. They have a bye this week.

10. San Clemente (5-0) (10)

The Tritons beat Palos Verdes 14-0. Brendan Costello threw for 200 yards and 2 touchdowns, Austin Whitsett had 68 rushing yards. Chase Berman had 129 receiving yards and a touchdown, and Keith Jones also had a receiving score. They host Edison on Friday.
