BYU lands Oregon State Transfer cornerback Kaleb Hayes originally appeared on NBC Sports Northwest
Oregon State Beavers cornerback Kaleb Hayes entered the transfer portal back in January.
And now Hayes has a new place he can call home.
Hayes kept it quiet for social media, but Tuesday it was revealed that he has officially committed to BYU.
"I felt comfortable," Hayes said in a si.com interview. "Something about the program, something about those coaches, something struck within me. That's where I wanted to be at."
During his redshirt season with the Beavers, Hayes was one of the best cornerbacks in the Pac-12.
According to Pro Football Focus, in his 2019 season, Hayes had the lowest catch rate allowed of any returning Pac-12 cornerbacks at 45.7%.
But injuries sidelined him during his sophomore season - he only appeared in two games as opposed to 12 games as a redshirt freshman.
Hayes still has two years left of eligibility remaining, where he most likely will use those years at BYU.
We will see if Hayes will enter the NFL draft once his college days are up and done.
