Burck announced as Ephrata boys tennis coach

Feb. 28—EPHRATA — Courtney Burck will be taking over the Ephrata boys tennis program, the Ephrata School District announced in a release Tuesday.

Burck was a four-year tennis player with the Tigers during her time at the school, winning a state championship in the 2A Girls Doubles in 2006 with her teammate Holly Hutchinson.

"Ephrata has a great tennis program and I'm excited to build on its success," Burck said in a release. "My goal is to help kids enjoy tennis and be competitive in matches. Being a coach is more than just competition though, it's important to help kids build character too."

The new head coach brings in years of experience as a coach, previously serving as an assistant at Eatonville High School in 2014 and Cheney High School from 2015-16, later becoming the head coach of the Blackhawks from 2017-18.

"Courtney is a terrific addition to our coaching staff," Ephrata Athletic Director Bryan Johnson said in a release. "She has a solid resume of coaching experience and proven success as a player during her time at Ephrata High School. We're excited to see what she does with our boys tennis program."
