Williams 'excited to watch' Candace Parker's fit with Sky originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago

Candace Parker's recent signing with the Sky made ripples across the basketball universe.

A two-time MVP with championship pedigree galore dating back to her years at Naperville Central High School, the addition thrusts the Sky firmly into the top tier title contention and marks a significant homecoming for one of the greatest players to come up in Chicago.

Bulls rookie Patrick Williams, who's often publicly supported the WNBA, took special notice, and is pumped about the addition.

"I'm excited to watch. Hopefully they can have some fans and I'll be able to get in there and see some games," Williams said. "But man, I'm just excited to have her come back, and it's huge for all of Chicago, honestly. And it's also huge for the WNBA just to have a legend like that come back to her hometown and hopefully win some games here."

Williams didn't come to Chicago with any team allegiances, saying he likes to watch the entire league. In a predraft interview with Diana Taurasi staged by AT&T, Williams said that appreciation was engrained in him young, especially because his mother Janie played college ball at Johnson C. Smith University.

"Just seeing women break barriers that have been up for a long time," he said. "I'm just a huge supporter and fan of the WNBA and those women."
