Bulls' Alex Caruso out 6-8 weeks with broken wrist caused on hard foul by Bucks' Grayson Allen

Chicago Bulls guard Alex Caruso will miss at least the next six weeks after suffering a broken right wrist during Friday night's game against the Milwaukee Bucks, the team announced Saturday.

The team said that Caruso will need surgery on the wrist.

Caruso was injured in the third quarter of Milwaukee's 94-90 win while going up for a layup. Bucks guard Grayson Allen grabbed Caruso's arm during the play, which sent him crashing to the court on his wrist.

Allen was assessed a flagrant foul-2 and was ejected from the game. X-rays taken on Caruso's wrist after the game where negative.

"Dude just grabbed me out of the air," Caruso said. "It's kind of bulls---. I don't know what else you can do about it. I'm just glad that I didn't have any major scary injuries right away."

The NBA has yet to decide if Allen will be disciplined.

Chicago head coach Billy Donovan had strong words about the play, and about Allen, after the game.

"It was really bad," he began. "It was really, really bad. We lost Patrick (Williams) on a flagrant foul, a pretty significant injury. I said this after the game, (New York's) Mitchell Robinson was trying to make a legitimate play on the basketball. For Alex to be in the air and for him to take him down like that, he could’ve ended his career.

"He has a history of this. That to me was really, it was really dangerous. I hope the league takes a hard look at something like that because they could have really, really seriously hurt him."

Caruso is averaging 8.4 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.9 assists in 28 games this season for Chicago.

The 27-year-old is in the first season of a four-year, $37 million deal after he spent the first four seasons of his NBA career with the Los Angeles Lakers.
