Bulldogs and Yellow Jackets take to the pool at Lee County

Jan. 10—THOMASVILLE — Thomasville and Thomas County Central headed to Lee County this past weekend to compete in an invitational. Both the Yellow Jackets and the Bulldogs competed well, winning multiple events.

The girls were as fast as ever for the Bulldogs. The relay team of Sarah Kate Still, Makenna Ponder, McCartney Bell and Violet Illian swam a 2:24.08 for a top ten finish in the 200 medley relay. Ponder went on to take first place in the 200 free and 100 free. Bell took sixth in the 200 free. The Swim Dogs relay team of Illian, Bell, Ponder and Lillian Horne also took sixth in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 2:03.24.

As the Yellow Jackets took to the pool Tyler King stood out among the crowd. King was dominant, finishing first in the 200 IM and the 100 Butterfly, swimming two lengths of the pool in under a minute. Ivan Correa finished top five in the 200 free with a time of 2:34.68 and the Boys relay team of King, Nick Pierce, Johnny Bradshaw and Chris Pierce finished first in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:39.10.

That same relay team also won the 400 free relay at 3:39.03 and the team of Correa, Cabe Parker, Connor Reagan and CJ King finished sixth.

As the Lee County Invitational ended, Thomasville's girls finished the day in fifth, while the Central boys finished in fourth. Combined scores saw the Yellow Jackets finish in fourth overall and Thomasville finished in tenth.
