The news surrounding the Colorado Buffaloes football program hasn’t been very encouraging.

A large number of players entered the transfer portal, including Brenden Rice and Jarek Broussard on offense. The defense will look very different next season as well with Christian Gonzalez, Mekhi Blackmon, Mark Perry and others also using the portal.

Nonetheless, the Buffs have work to do, and they began some of that work with the hiring of offensive coordinator Mike Sanford, who is one of many new assistant coaches in Boulder.

According to Bruce Feldman of Fox Sports and The Athletic, it appears that the Buffs are now focusing on a new wide receivers coach, Phil McGeoghan.

McGeoghan has worked for a number of NFL teams, including the Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins and Los Angeles Chargers.

McGeoghan’s tutoring of Keenan Allen is particularly intriguing. After being drafted out of Cal, Allen blossomed into one of the best wideouts in the league.

McGeoghan also worked with Zay Jones at East Carolina, where the now-Las Vegas Raiders WR set an NCAA record with 158 grabs in a season.

If the Buffs want McGeoghan, they need to work quickly to work out a deal with him, especially with Feldman reporting interest from other programs.

While the Buffs have a lot of questions to answer, bringing in McGeoghan as an assistant would be a major boost to the coaching staff.
