The Colorado Buffaloes men’s basketball team hasn’t played a game since Dec. 18, and likely won’t play again until Jan. 6. This big gap in play combined with their lack of wins over ranked opponents failed to get them any votes in this week’s Ferris Mower’s Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll, powered by USA TODAY Sports.

The Buffs did, however, receive five votes in the AP Top 25 Poll.

Their next opportunity to face a ranked opponent will be Jan. 13 when they take on the No. 7 Arizona Wildcats. The Wildcats fell three spots in this week’s Ferris Mower’s Coaches Poll after their first loss of the season to the Tennessee Volunteers, who rose four spots to No. 15 after the win.

UCLA and Kansas both moved up one place in this week’s poll, taking the No. 5 and No. 6 spots, respectively. UCLA last played on Dec. 11 when it beat Marquette 67-56, but the Bruins have since had three games scratched due to COVID-19 issues. Kansas last played on Dec. 18 before its showdown against the Buffs on Dec. 21 was canceled.

The USC Trojans, who Colorado will face on Jan. 20, remained stagnant at No. 9. Their last game was a 67-53 win over Georgia Tech on Dec. 18. But like many other Pac-12 teams, their Dec. 21 game against Oklahoma State was canceled and their upcoming games against Arizona and Arizona State have been postponed.

At 10-0 on the season, Colorado’s in-state rival Colorado State rose to No. 20 in the poll.
