Buffalo players jokingly call out Barack Obama after upset of Arizona

The Buffalo Bulls didn’t just advance to the second round of the NCAA tournament on Thursday night. They spent the evening on top of the world after an absolutely astonishing upset of fourth-seeded Arizona.

So what do you do when you’re on top of the world? What do you do after beating a Final Four contender by 21 points?

You call out the former President of the United States of America, of course.

Here’s what Buffalo players CJ Massinburg and Wes Clark, who combined for 44 points, had to say – unprompted – at the postgame news conference:

MASSINBURG: President Barack Obama, he picked Arizona to beat us. And I just want to say, President Obama, I’m sorry, but I had to. [Laughter]

CLARK: Should have chose the handsome guys. [Laughter]

Obama released his brackets for the men’s and women’s NCAA tournaments on Wednesday, and had Arizona beating both Buffalo and Kentucky to advance to the Sweet 16. He had a decent first day, going 12 for 16 and nailing the Loyola Chicago-over-Miami upset.

But he got Arizona wrong. And Massinburg and Clark, with smiles on their faces, had to let him now hear it.
