Bucs RB Chase Edmonds activated off Injured Reserve

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will have some fresh legs in the backfield for their Thursday Night Football game against the Buffalo Bills.

The team announced on Wednesday that running back Chase Edmonds has officially been activated off Injured Reserve back to the active roster. Cornerback Derrek Pitts was waived by the team in order to make room for him. Edmonds was required to sit out at least four games on IR, but got an extra week of rest due to the team’s bye week coming in the middle of that period — as a result, he may be more rested than most coming off IR.

Edmonds only has four carries this year, but he currently leads the team in yards per carry with 5.0. He’s a veteran back who has produced in the past, so he has an opportunity to take the No. 2 running back role behind RB Rachaad White. It’s unknown how much he’ll be used against the Bills, but the team certainly needs a spark in the run game.
