Bucs guard Matt Feiler out, Vita Vea a game-time decision vs. Bills
TAMPA — Starting left guard Matt Feiler will miss the Bucs’ game against the Bills tonight in Buffalo with a knee injury, coach Todd Bowles said Wednesday.
Free safety Kaevon Merriweather (ankle) also will miss the game.
Nose tackle Vita Vea, who has a groin injury, will be a game-time decision, Bowles said. He was listed as questionable on the injury report released Wednesday.
The Bucs’ abbreviated practice week ended with Vea on the sideline, arriving later than the rest of the team to watch the light practice in shorts and jerseys.
Running back Chase Edmonds, cleared to return to practice this week after missing time with a knee injury, was a full participant. He was activated from injured reserve, with the Bucs waiving cornerback Derrek Pitts.
Wide receiver Chris Godwin (neck) and quarterback Baker Mayfield (knee) also took part in the short morning practice before the team headed to Buffalo. Despite their full participation, both were listed as questionable.
With Feiler out, sixth-year veteran Aaron Stinnie will start at left guard, Bowles said.
Stinnie started the final three games of the 2020 postseason, including Super Bowl 55, but has only one start since, a 2021 victory over the Giants. He missed last season after tearing the ACL and MCL in his left knee during the preseason. He has played only four snaps this year, three on special teams.
