Bucky Brooks names Marlon Humphrey and Marcus Peters as top-five ‘Batman and Robin’ duo

The Baltimore Ravens have a deep secondary that includes many different playmakers. Their depth makes the unit one of the best in the league, and heading into the 2021 season, they have the talent to play at an extremely high level.

When ranking his top-five Batman and Robin duos in the NFL, Bucky Brooks of NFL.com put Baltimore’s cornerback duo of Marlon Humphrey and Marcus Peters at the No. 3 spot on his list, explaining that they have different skill sets, but compliment each other well.

“Playing great defense in today’s NFL is all about forcing turnovers. With that in mind, the Ravens’ defense will always rank among the game’s best units as long as Peters and Humphrey are leading the way as ball magnets in the secondary. Peters is a turnover machine with 31 career interceptions and nine forced fumbles in six seasons. Although he will give up an occasional play as a fearless gambler, the veteran routinely makes up for his mistakes with a timely interception that changes the momentum of the game. Humphrey is the best ball puncher on the perimeter since Charles “Peanut” Tillman helped the Bears’ defense wreak havoc on the league years ago. The All-Pro finished 2020 with a league-high eight forced fumbles and 2.5 sacks as a slot/outside corner with superb instincts and awareness. These two former first-round picks give the Ravens the league’s best turnover producers in a defensive backfield.”

Humphrey and Peters will look to continue their great play in 2021 as they will be tasked with covering some of the best pass catchers in the NFL. They’re both turnover machines, so they should be able to get the ball back to the Ravens’ offense many times and help secure plenty of wins for a Baltimore team that is looking to make a Super Bowl run this upcoming season.
