Milwaukee’s slip in Game 1 of the series is well behind them. The Bucks flew to a dominant 121-107 win over the Orlando Magic on Saturday afternoon at Walt Disney World, taking an easy 2-1 series lead.
Imagine being able to walk around with two of golf's best for what felt like a casual round of golf. In their case, it also looked like a casual round. Woods used his putter to go over a steep slope from behind the 18th green, and he made a 6-footer coming back to end with a birdie.
More rumors began circulating on Friday that Lonzo Ball may be included in trade talks this off-season after Jay Williams reported as such on his radio show. I'm hearing things around New Orleans that Lonzo may be used as a trading asset in New Orleans…, Jay Williams of ESPN. For a variety of reasons, Ball will likely not be traded.
When the Sixers acquired Al Horford last July, their excitement was double-layered. In addition to acquiring a five-time All-Star they thought could solve the backup center problem behind Joel Embiid, the team plucked a key player from a rival - one who happened to defend Embiid quite well. Now, as Horford's first season as a Sixer surely nears its end, there's a double whammy to consider.
One of the most fun storylines for the Washington Football Team over the summer is now over, as news has broken that rookie TE Thaddeus Moss has been waived from the squad. Moss was a member of the National Championship-winning LSU team in 2019, but he went undrafted in April and signed with Washington shortly after the draft came to a close on Saturday. After working out with the team throughout the summer and the start of training camp, Moss has been released, and will now look to sign with another team that may want him.
Karl and Jackson clearly haven't moved past their feud. Commentating during the Lakers' Game 2 win over the Trail Blazers last night, Jackson and Jeff Van Gundy discussed Carmelo Anthony's defense. Jorge Alonso of BroBible: Jackson: People who killed Carmelo Anthony in the past for his defense and whatever, they were wrong.
The Dolphins are going to be without their for-now starting quarterback, and they're looking at some reinforcements. According to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald, Dolphins coach Brian Flores said Ryan Fitzpatrick would not practice today for personal reasons. The Dolphins brought Jake Rudock in for a workout Thursday.
This week, it arrived in one of the strangest and most amazing ways yet ... with legendary Cincinnati Reds broadcaster Thom Brennaman spitting a gay slur so very casually into a mic he didn't know was hot ... and then apologizing many hours later in the most awkward way possible ... by stopping mid-apology after saying “I'm a man of faith” to hear the crack of a bat ... and interrupting the broadcasting of what might have been the end of his career ... with the most somber, funniest home run call you will ever hear in your life. This isn't even yet the politics I'm talking about, of course, because being gay isn't supposed to be politics just like wearing a mask isn't supposed to be politics.
The Islanders took down coach Barry Trotz's former team, the Capitals, while the Golden Knights had little trouble dispatching the Blackhawks and Miro Heiskanen powered the Stars past the Fames. The Blue Jackets proved relentless, but were no match against the Lightning, who were swept last year by Columbus, in this year's edition. The Bruins, meanwhile, brushed off concerns after losing all three round-robin games to defeat the Hurricanes, and the Avalanche used their high-powered offense to overwhelm the Coyotes.
ON GIANCARLO STANTON Giancarlo and Aaron were both on the field hitting yesterday, hitting off velocity. Giancarlo did some running outside on the field, probably at about half-speed. He continues to make really good improvements.
The Dallas Cowboys may not take the field Saturday for practice but that hasn't stopped them from handling business off of it. After freeing up $3.25 million in cap space with the release of Gerald McCoy earlier this week the Cowboys are converting $8.9 million of Tyron Smith's salary into a signing bonus, creating an additional $7.1 million worth of wiggle room with the voided year added. The void year acts simply as a placeholder to spread the proration of the bonus over five seasons' cap instead of just the four remaining on Smith's deal.
Luck was not on the New York Knicks' side in the 2020 NBA Draft Lottery, and Enes Kanter clearly got a kick out of their misfortune. Not only did the Knicks fail to move up in the lottery, but they also fell from pick No. 6 to 8. Don't miss NBC Sports Boston's coverage of Celtics-76ers Game 3, which begins Friday at 5:30 p.m. with Celtics Pregame Live followed by tip-off at 6:30 p.m. You can also stream the game on the MyTeams App.
The Bruins will obviously always play the schedule that's in front of them, but it was a bit of a head-scratcher when the second-round series schedule between the Bruins and Tampa Bay Lightning was released following Friday night's decisive games. The Bruins will open their series vs. Tampa Bay on Sunday night, and will potentially play two sets of back-to-back games in the series with Games 2 and 3 back-to-back on Tuesday and Wednesday, and Games 6 and 7 potentially on Tuesday and Wednesday next week as well. Bruce Cassidy admitted he was "surprised" when the schedule came out with the back-to-backs and acknowledged the goaltending challenge is the biggest part of it all.
The race starts Sunday at 2:30 p.m. on NBC. Marco Andretti, grandson of 1969 Indianapolis 500 winner Mario Andretti, is starting on the pole after finishing with a four-lap average of 231.068 mph during the Fast Nine Shootout last Sunday.
Bayern Munich – PSG looks set to be a thrilling UEFA Champions League final matchup on Sunday (start time, 3pm ET), featuring the “been there, done that” five-time European champions from Germany and the big-spending have-nots with all the French glory they could ever want but nothing from Europe's biggest stage. Bayern were most recently crowned champions of Europe in 2013, when they topped fellow Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund at Wembley Stadium. Perhaps no side has been as dominant, or made it look so easy, as Bayern have done since the knockout rounds resumed two weeks ago.
The New York Giants held their first intrasquad scrimmage on Friday and as expected, it was hard-hitting, fast-paced and physical — just the way head coach Joe Judge prefers it. Daniel Jones took a few lumps early during Friday's scrimmage, starting out a little rough and tossing an interception — something he has vowed to correct. Jones rebounded after his shaky start and finished the day strong, completing 15 of his 26 passes for two touchdowns and the aforementioned interception.
The Seattle Seahawks added a couple of defensive weapons to the arsenal this offseason but were unable to re-sign defensive end Jadeveon Clowney to the roster. Numerous teams have expressed interest in the free agent, although he is still without a team. NLF insider Josina Anderson tweeted earlier on Thursday that an anonymous team that may be running a 4-3 defensive scheme could be interested in Clowney.
A star was born at Bellator 244, or at least rubber-stamped, when Vadim Nemkov proved beyond any doubt that he lives amongst the elite within the mixed martial arts' light heavyweight spectrum when he dealt magnificently with champion Ryan Bader over two impressive rounds at Mohegan Sun, Conn. This was the fourth world champion the 28-year-old Russian has now defeated in his run in Bellator, but he deserves high praise for the manner of the victory over the American, who still holds on to the heavyweight title, having won the Grand Prix Tournament last year. To the obvious delight of Nemkov's mentor Fedor Emelianenko - who lost in the heavyweight final last year to Bader - the young fighter held his ground in the largely stand-up first round, clearly a match for Bader, while letting the champion know that his famed leg kicks are brutal.
Home means Nevada, especially if you're the Raiders. The new uniforms for the Silver and Black received an official Nevada patch to celebrate their inaugural season in Las Vegas: Perhaps enough time has gone by, but it looks natural. The Nevada state cutout with a star to represent the team's new home -- it fits.
Five-time major winner Phil Mickelson said Friday he will make his PGA Tour Champions debut on Monday after missing the cut at the Northern Trust. Michelson turned 50 in June, but has not yet played on the Champions Tour, formerly known as the Senior Tour. But he said Friday on Twitter that failing to advance to the weekend -- and next week's second event in the FedEx Cup playoffs -- gave him a perfect opportunity.
