Bucks center Brook Lopez dropped career-high 8 3-pointers against the Nuggets

Brook Lopez: 3-point specialist?

If you look at his last several games, that unlikely label certainly fits the 7-foot Milwaukee Bucks center.

Lopez put up 28 points and went 8-of-13 from the 3-point line in the Bucks’ 121-114 win against the Denver Nuggets at the Pepsi Center on Sunday night.

His eight 3-pointers marked a career-high for the 30-year-old, too — and he hit that mark in the third quarter.

“I’ve never seen 7-foot-1 hit, what, six in a row? No. That was a Steph Curry-like performance,” Bucks forward John Henson told Eric Nehm of The Athletic. “I don’t know if there’s a guy in the league … well, Klay (Thompson). So, Klay, Steph, Brook.”

Lopez’s deep success, though, isn’t just a one-time thing. He went 6-of-12 from behind the arc on Saturday night in the Bucks’ 128-126 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers, setting then a season-high mark in attempts from that range.

On Tuesday, in Milwaukee’s 118-103 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers, Lopez went 6-of-10 from the 3-point line en route to a 22-point night.

While he holds a .340 career average from the 3-point line, Lopez only took seven shots from behind the arc in his first six season — and didn’t make one. He’s also the only center in NBA history to hit more than seven 3-pointers in a single game.

Nuggets coach Michael Malone had some harsh words for his players after the loss on Sunday, too, and thinks that many had not done their homework ahead of time.

Somebody better guard the big man on the outside here soon. If not, we may just end up seeing Lopez in the 3-point contest this season.
