Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin out vs. Giants

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin will miss next Monday night’s game against the New York Giants due to fractured left index finger.

Godwin fractured the finger in the Bucs’ victory over the Las Vegas Raiders last Sunday. He has played in just four games this season due to a hamstring issue after having a breakout season in 2019 when he caught 86 passed for 1,333 yard and nine touchdown.

Godwin is tied for the team lead with 25 catches for 279 yards and two touchdowns this season despite playing just four games. Mike Evans also has 25 receptions this season for 318 yards and six touchdowns.

Scotty Miller (22 catches, 365 yards, 2 TD) has been the recipient of many of Godwin’s targets and will continue to get looks from Tom Brady, who he has developed a strong rapport with.

Evans has seen his opportunities increase, averaging nine targets, 6.33 receptions and 89 yards per game this year. Antonio Brown, signed last week by the Bucs, is not expected to play until Week 9 against the New Orleans Saints.

Evans tore the Giants up last year, catching eight of 15 targets for 190 yards and three touchdowns in the Giants’ 32-31 comeback victory last season in Daniel Jones’ first career start.

In that same game, Godwin hauled in just three receptions on four targets for 40 yards.
