Buccaneers reach 4-year, $73M extension with DT Vita Vea

Vita Vea is staying in Florida.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers reached a four-year, $73 million extension with the defensive tackle on Saturday night, the team announced. The deal will keep Vea locked down through the 2026 season.

The 26-year-old is in his fourth season with the Buccaneers. The team already picked up his fifth-year option on his initial rookie deal, so his extension will kick in after next season. He is set to earn $7.6 million in the 2022 season.

The Buccaneers first took Vea with the No. 12 overall pick in 2018 out of Washington. He only played in five games last season due to a broken leg he suffered against the Chicago Bears, but returned in time for the NFC championship game and the Super Bowl.

Vea has 31 total tackles so far this season, and is just four off from matching his career-high heading into Sunday’s season finale against the Carolina Panthers.
