Brynlee Sabers, Eva Ramm leading the state in goals, saves for the Marlins

Jan. 10—MITCHELL — The Mitchell Marlins girls have key players leading the state in both goals and saves at the South Dakota Amateur Hockey Association varsity level this season.

Mitchell's Brynlee Sabers has notched 23 goals and eight assists through 10 games, good for a state-high 31 points, while Marlin goalie Eva Ramm leads the state with 253 saves, and is second with a .904 save percentage.

On the offensive side, nearest to catching Sabers is Brylee Kafka of the Oahe Capitals. Kafka has 19 goals through eight games for the Pierre club.

In third, Sawyer Triplett of Brookings and Aberdeen's Alyssa Roehrich each have nine goals, and in fourth, the Sioux Falls Flyers' Rylan Peska, Aberdeen's Rachel Siefken and Olivia Sandvig, and Mitchell's Makenna Tronnes each have seven goals. Kailyn Poppen of Aberdeen has a state-best 11 assists.

Defensively, the state's second-leading goalie in saves is Victoria Pendegrass of the Sioux Center Storm, who has 200, while Claire Larson of the Rushmore Thunder has 194 saves. Leading the state with a .905 save percentage is Watertown's Kira Keppe, though she has competed in just 116 minutes of action, opposed to Ramm's 520 minutes. Third with a .898 save percentage is the Sioux Falls Flyers' Sydney Fornwald.

Rounding out Mitchell's stat leaders are Reese Amick, who has five goals and four assists, and Ryleigh Weidenbach and Aaralyn Barta, with one goal apiece. Analeigh Hotchkiss also has one assist.

The Marlins (6-3-1) have four regular season games remaining, and will visit Oahe at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20 at the Oahe Expo Center in Pierre.

Through nine games on the boys side, Levi Loken leads Mitchell with nine goals and nine assists. Mick Dailey has six goals and five assists, Parker Denne has notched five goals and five assists and Brody Huls has three goals and three assists. Pacxton Denne has added two goals and three assists and Victor Contreras and Connor Degen have a single goal and assist apiece.

Marlin goalie Ian Vaughan is fourth in the SDAHA with 280 saves, and has a .846 save percentage.

On a state level, Cameron Ritter of the Rushmore Thunder leads the way with 15 goals, while Ethan Busch of Huron and Wyatt Reeder of Rushmore have 14 goals. Huron goalie Jack Bales leads the state with 294 saves, and Christian Richards of the Sioux Center Storm has 286 saves.

The Marlin boys (5-4) have 13 games remaining, beginning with a road challenge against Yankton at 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13.
