Bryce Young was always the reason the Carolina Panthers traded up
The Carolina Panthers made a hefty trade with the Chicago Bears in March in order to acquire the first overall pick of the 2023 draft. The selection ended up being Alabama quarterback Bryce Young.
For nearly a month and a half, there were rumors swirling regarding who the Panthers would pick at No. 1.
Along with Young’s name was Kentucky’s Will Levis, Ohio State‘s C.J. Stroud and Florida‘s Anthony Richardson.
Well, those rumors turned out to be just that. Rumors. Frank Reich, head coach of the Panthers, joined NFL Network and stated that the franchise was going to do its due diligence in evaluating all options, but that Young was the player they had in mind when completing the trade with the Bears.

I always thought this was the case!
The other QB’s were part of the due diligence, but throughout the process their conviction on Bryce just grew and grew.
