Recently Auburn head coach Bryan Harsin spoke at the AMBUSH event in Montgomery, Alabama, in which he discussed a myriad of topics revolving around the Tigers.

One of those topics included the transfer portal and the lack of outgoing transfers following spring football. He wasn’t surprised about it and Harsin feels really good about the route the team is taking.

“It says a lot about where we are as a team,” Harsin said “I like where we’re at, and I’m not surprised that every single one of those guys are still here. They chose to come back. That’s the one thing. I think we’re missing that a lot in some of these stories: They chose to come back. They chose to be a part of what we’re doing. They want to lead. They want to win. They want to be a part of Auburn football. They see the things that we’re building.”

Players such as tight end John Samuel Shenker went to bat for the head coach during the attempted coup by the Board of Regents, boosters earlier in the spring. Ultimately they decided to stick with Harsin, who is only going into his second year. Now they get to go to bat for the embattled head coach on the field in the 2022 campaign.

It won’t be an easy task as the Tigers have questions that still remain and one of the toughest schedules in FBS, if not the toughest. Who the starting quarterback will be at this point remains the biggest question for this team. However, that will be addressed in fall camp. Zach Calzada, T.J. Finley, and Robby Ashford are all firmly in the mix.

While there hasn’t been any movement internally, the Tigers staff could be adding to the team through the transfer portal. Recently wide receiver transfer Ricky Pearsall listed Auburn among his final three. There is also former Nebraska Casey Rogers, who is yet to make his final decision as well.
