Highlights: B's offense sputters, musters only 18 shots in shutout loss originally appeared on NBC Sports Boston

On Thursday night against the New York Rangers, the Boston Bruins offense was firing on all cylinders.

On Saturday afternoon, things were much different.

With Keith Kinkaid making the start over Alexandar Georgiev, the Rangers held up much better on the back end. Kinkaid ended up saving all 18 of the shots that came his way, and the Bruins offense largely looked sluggish. They lacked any sort of rhythm, couldn't sustain attacking zone time in their loss, and set a season-low in shots on goal with 18.

On the other side of the ice, the B's got a solid effort out of Jaroslav Halak, who saved 29 of the 33 shots he faced. Halak stopped numerous wide-open Rangers opportunities, but eventually faltered under constant pressure from New York. He didn't get much help from his defense during a less-than-stellar day for the unit.

Here are the highlights from Boston's loss:

FINAL SCORE: Rangers 4, Bruins 0

BOX SCORE

BRUINS RECORD: 14-7-4

HIGHLIGHTS

The Rangers scored just over three minutes into the game on an accurate wrist shot by K'Andre Miller. Jaroslav Halak was screened by Chris Kreider on the play, as Jakub Zboril couldn't quite keep him out of Halak's field of vision.

The Bruins didn't have a lot of chances early against the Rangers, but Zboril did get one off a nice feed from David Pastrnak. Rangers goalie Keith Kinkaid made a nice stop on the point-blank opportunity.

In the second period, Kreider would put the Rangers ahead 2-0 on a nice finish in front of the net. That would prove to be more than enough in a game where the B's couldn't get much offense going.

The Rangers added another goal late in the third period to put things fully out of reach. Ryan Strome scored on a beautiful feed from Artemi Panarin. Halak had no chance to stop the unguarded Strome.

Pavel Buchnevich added one more off a defensive zone turnover to finish off the Bruins' awful Sunday effort. It made the score 4-0 and helped the Rangers avenge their 4-0 Thursday night loss to the B's.
