Bruins' Tuukka Rask on historic point streak of his own originally appeared on nbcsportsboston.com

Tuukka Rask didn't have a great start to the season for the Boston Bruins. But now, that is a thing of the past. The team is on an 18-game point streak and hasn't lost in regulation since the day before the AFC Championship Game.

However, lost amid this excellent team-wide streak is an 18-game point streak of Rask's own. Since December 29th, he is 15-0-3, recording a point in each of his last 18 starts. And according to the Bruins' official Twitter, he is one of just two goalies in NHL history to have multiple 17-plus game point streaks.

For context, Pete Peeters' streaks lasted 27 games in 1979-80 with the Philadelphia Flyers and 21 games in 1982-83 with the Bruins, per the NHL's Public Relations Twitter account. Rask's streaks are the current one, 18 straight points ahead of Saturday's matchup with the Senators and a stretch of 19 games (17-0-2) during the 2017-18 season.

Rask is coming close to matching Peeters' 21-game streak with the Bruins, but he's still well off the pace for the longest point streak for a goalie in Bruins history. Gerry Cheevers set the mark in 1971-72 by logging a 24-0-8 record over the span of 32 games.

Still, it's clear that Rask is red-hot right now, and he certainly has done a lot to help fuel the Bruins during this point streak. He'll look to help the Bruins keep going strong in his next start whether that comes Saturday against the Ottawa Senators or Sunday against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
