Bruins sign two players to contract extensions originally appeared on NBC Sports Boston

The Boston Bruins announced Wednesday they've signed forwards Cameron Hughes and Joona Koppanen to contract extensions.

Both players signed one year, two-way contracts with an annual NHL cap hit of $750,000.

Hughes played 25 games with the Providence Bruins last season, scoring five goals and tallying 16 assists. The 24-year-old played one game for Boston on May 11 vs. the Washington Capitals. In four seasons with Providence, the 2016 sixth-round draft pick has 24 goals and 44 assists.

Koppanen, 23, notched three goals and three assists in 21 games with the Providence Bruins in 2020-21. The 2015 fifth-rounder has totaled 16 goals and 12 assists in four seasons with Providence.
