Not even Bruce Willis can escape the wrath of Philadelphia sports fans.

The award-winning actor was heartily booed Wednesday night after becoming the latest celebrity to uncork a less than desirable ceremonial first pitch.

Willis, who was sporting a Phillies jersey, bounced his first pitch despite standing considerably closer than the standard 60 feet, six inches away from home plate.

On one hand, at least it wasn’t 50 Cent bad. Nor was it as embarrassingly off target as “American Ninja Warrior” host Akbar Gbaja-Biamila, who ironically was on hand for Wednesday’s game along with Willis.

Then again, the standards are always a little bit higher in Philadelphia. Especially so when you’re out there representing the city in a Phillies jersey and cap.

Clearly, the expectations were that Willis’ first pitch would live up to the superhero standard many of his past characters have set.

Instead, well, it died. Hard.

In Willis’ defense though, he did look like more of a natural hitter during his appearance at Citizens Bank Park. Not that that’s saying much.

To Willis’ credit, he took the boos in stride. But we’re guessing he’s already pondering a make-good sequel.
