Browns Week 7 snap counts: Delpit & Harrison same this week

The Cleveland Browns did what they had to do short-handed in Week 7 against the Denver Broncos. The 17 – 14 victory may not go down in history as the greatest win ever but it does go down in the win column.

The Browns are now 4 – 3 on the season and will be, at most, one game back of the second-best record in the AFC when Week 7 ends. Cleveland now has 10 days off to get as many of their players healthy as possible before facing off with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Halloween.

Week 7’s performance is unlikely to build too much, outside of keeping their winning record, except for the emergence of running back D’Ernest Johnson. With 22 carries and 146 yards, Johnson carried the Browns offense on his back throughout the game. His hard running and nifty moves helped the home team have over 13 more minutes of possession than the visitors.

The defense did what they had to do to get the victory but wasn’t able to get important stops on two long drives in the second half. Still a lot to clean up on that side of the ball but the upcoming schedule could give them a chance to do just that.

Here are the team’s snap counts for this week:

Offense

Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

Week 7 was the first game that Jedrick Wills played in 100% of the team’s snaps due to the ankle injury suffered in Week 1. Much like last week when Kareem Hunt took most of the running back snaps, Johnson got the majority this week. Demetric Felton played a number of positions during his 22 snaps while recently promoted John Kelly only got three snaps.

The other offensive weapons continue to fluctuate game to game including Jarvis Landry only taking 54% of the offensive snaps upon his return to the field. Landry was hurt late in the game but was able to return.

Defense

After getting only a few snaps last week, Grant Delpit bumped back up to 29 snaps this week matching Ronnie Harrison’s number. Harrison’s dip is slightly surprising given Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah’s absence due to injury but Anthony Walker and Malcolm Smith carried many of those snaps.

Despite starting and making an early tackle, Mack Wilson only had 17 snaps on defense this week. After playing very well in Greg Newsome II’s place, Greedy Williams was down to 11 snaps this week but could get more opportunity depending on Denzel Ward’s injury status.

As always, a lot of players on and off the field for special teams this week. Andrew Billings got blown up causing Chase McLaughlin’s field goal to be blocked and ruining his perfect streak for the season.
