Browns to lose M.J. Stewart to Texans
While the Cleveland Browns and Houston Texans may be engaged in conversations about Deshaun Watson, Houston has also reportedly agreed to a deal with DB M.J. Stewart.
Stewart spent the last two seasons with Cleveland, starting in three games in 2021. Originally drafted in the second round by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Stewart was waived by the team after two seasons. In 21 games in Tampa Bay, Stewart only accounted for five passes defended.
With the Browns, Stewart showed his versatility as both a slot corner and safety while helping on special teams. His time may be most remembered for his playoff interception of Ben Roethlisberger.

With Ronnie Harrison set for free agency, Cleveland is down to three safeties with John Johnson III, Grant Delpit and Richard LeCounte III. LeCounte’s rookie season had some difficulties which could lead the Browns to invest salary cap space and/or draft picks into the position once again.
