Browns add CB Gaines to secondary

The Cleveland Browns added another new face to their secondary on Friday when they announced the signing of cornerback E.J. Gaines.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Gaines had 59 tackles, one interception and three forced fumbles in 11 games for the Buffalo Bills last season.

He joins safety Damarious Randall and cornerbacks T.J. Carrie and Terrance Mitchell as offseason additions to the defensive backfield.

Gaines, 26, was originally a sixth-round draft choice by the St. Louis Rams in 2014. He started 15 games as a rookie and intercepted two passes.

He missed the entire 2015 season due to a foot injury. He returned to play in 11 games (10 starts) for the Los Angeles Rams in 2016.

Gaines was dealt to Buffalo in the August deal in which receiver Sammy Watkins was sent to the Rams. He was limited to 11 games due to hamstring and knee injuries.
