We all know that President Donald Trump loves golf. He’s constructed many golf courses that bear his name and he still plays a lot, even with his many responsibilities as the elected leader of the United States.

Since Trump is a golf fanatic, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the commander in chief tweeted at golfer Brooks Koepka, who held off a resurgent Tiger Woods at the PGA Championship on Sunday to win his third major tournament.

I know what you may be thinking, but you can relax — it was a congratulatory tweet!

That is a very dense congratulations tweet. Let’s run down everything Trump did in just 278 characters.

  • He showed that he knows Koepka has won two other majors tournaments (the 2017 and 2018 U.S. Open).

  • He said Koepka has a “powerful mind.”

  • He gave Koepka an incredible (if unoriginal) nickname, “man of steel.”

  • He thinks Koepka will win many more tournaments, including majors.

  • He also congratulated Koepka’s team, which includes his coach, caddy and others.

Obviously the most significant part of Trump’s tweet is the nickname. “Man of steel” is actually Superman’s nickname, but since Superman doesn’t play golf, Koepka’s probably free to start using it. I’m sure when he won the PGA Championship, Koepka had no idea that he’d be getting the $1.98 million purse AND a new nickname from the president.

Koepka managed to edge out Tiger Woods in Sunday’s final round, denying Woods his 15th major victory. Would Trump have congratulated Tiger if he’d won instead of Koepka? The two did play a round of golf together in 2017, so it’s possible. We’ll have to wait until Tiger wins that elusive 15th major to know for sure.
