(WJW) – LeBron James’ son Bronny James will be entering the 2024 NBA draft, according to his post on Instagram.

According to the post made on Friday, the University of Southern California freshman guard will not only enter the 2024 NBA draft but also maintain his college eligibility and enter the transfer portal.

“I’ve had a year with some ups and downs but all added to growth for me as a man, student and athlete. I’ve made the decision to enter the NBA Draft while maintaining my college eligibility and will also be entering the NCAA transfer portal,” James said on Instagram. “Thank you to USC for an amazing freshman year, and as always thankful for my family, friends, doctors, athletic trainers and fans for their support.”

In July, James suffered cardiac arrest. It was eventually found that he had a congenital heart defect that was treatable.

According to an ESPN report, this severely impacted his productivity as a freshman at USC. James averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 19 minutes a game.

Due to the cardiac arrest and heart procedure, James will need to get evaluated and approved by the NBA’s Fitness to Play Panel before being allowed to participate in team workouts or be selected in the draft, according to ESPN.
