Broncos players on injured reserve total almost $40 million in salary cap hits

The Denver Broncos haven’t been hit quite as hard by injuries this year as they were last season, but the team has had some significant injuries.

Denver’s list of players on injured reserve accounts for $39,656,992 worth of salary cap space, according to OverTheCap.com. Here’s a quick look at the six IR players with the biggest cap hits this season.

OL Graham Glasgow: $11,882,353

Glasgow suffered a season-ending ankle injury earlier this month. He’s been replaced in the starting lineup by rookie Quinn Meinerz.

OLB Bradley Chubb: $8,847,213

Chubb re-aggravated an ankle injury early in the season. Denver is hopeful Chubb will be able to return after the bye. Malik Reed has been starting in his place.

CB Bryce Callahan: $8,528,187

Callahan is expected to miss “significant time” after suffering a knee injury last month. Kyle Fuller has replaced him in the slot.

ILB Alexander Johnson: $3,384,000

Johnson tore a pectoral muscle earlier this year and won’t return this season. He’s been replaced in the starting lineup by Kenny Young.

ILB Josey Jewell: $2,361,496

Jewell also tore his pec and is out for the year. Baron Browning has replaced him in Denver’s base 3-4 defense.

WR K.J. Hamler: $1,622,076

Hamler tore his ACL in September and won’t return this season. Kendall Hinton has replaced Hamler on the depth chart as the new WR4 and backup returner.

Denver also has seven other players on injured reserve: OLB Andre Mintze ($501,667), offensive lineman Brett Jones ($465,000), linebacker Natrez Patrick ($465,000), running back LeVante Bellamy ($440,000), offensive lineman Cody Conway ($415,000), running back Adrian Killins ($415,000) and linebacker Micah Kiser ($330,000).
