Brock records impressive win at No. 3 Comanche

Jan. 5—COMANCHE — The Brock Lady Eagles defeated the No. 3 Comanche Lady Indians on the road by a final score of 47-32 to remain unbeaten in district play.

"It was a big win no doubt, but it was something we expected and believed we would do," Lady Eagles head coach Alex Stephenson said. "There's not a game we go into with the fear of losing. I think this win is a testament of sticking to the process and having confidence in who we are. Seasons are a marathon, not a sprint so sometimes it takes time to start clicking."

Earlier in the season, Brock dropped tough contests to Cleburne in overtime, Aledo (twice) and Lorena. Now, the Lady Eagles sit atop the district with an unblemished 4-0 mark after improving through a difficult pre-district slate.

"More than anything, experience," Stephenson said. "Experience is the best teacher, and through that experience they have matured mentally in their approach and mindset throughout the game."

Freshman guard Jacee Riddle scored 19 points to lead Brock, with six 3-pointers on the night while junior forward Keira Matthews registered 12 points. After allowing 17 first-quarter points, the Brock defense suffocated Comanche's offense the rest of the way, surrendering just 15 total points in the game's final three quarters.
