I Breastfeed My Boyfriend to ‘Feel Sexier, More Confident and More of a Woman’
Lana Michaels and her boyfriend Shawn, who met on a vegan dating app, star in new Channel 4 documentary Breastfeeding My Boyfriend–described as "a look at the taboo surrounding adult breastfeeding, exploring a growing underground scene that ranges from women producing milk for their partners to the lucrative lactation porn industry."
They came up with the idea of breastfeeding before sex after having a foursome with another couple. "I’d been sucking from another woman when I started feeling milk in my mouth. That burned up the sexual idea of breast milk connected with sex and it went from there," Lana told The Sun.
Now, the mum-of-two takes a herbal supplement and spends four weeks lactating so Shawn can 'feed' twice a week. "Having breast milk makes me feel sexier, more confident and more of a woman," she explains on the show, adding that her cup size has increased to 34D since she started lactating again.
Lana and Shawn say they are closer than ever since they began exploring their kink, explaining that it creates a "physical energy" between them. They hope the stigma surrounding adult breastfeeding—also known as an 'adult nursing relationship'—will evaporate and the practice will become more mainstream.
"There is more negative impact in slaving an animal like a cow than drinking human milk which is made for us," Shawn argues. "There is no cruelty or pain in adult breastfeeding. She gets pleasure, I get pleasure, and I get nutrition. She is happy, I am happy, so what’s the problem?"
To be clear, breast milk is full of nutritional benefits for babies. In 2015, a study from Queen Mary University of London warned that breast milk's benefits don't necessarily translate to adults. Just an FYI for anyone thinking about giving their protein shake a reboot.
It wasn't just Lana and Shawn who shared their experiences. Tip and Button, whose adult breastfeeding video has been viewed on an online porn site more than 300,000 times, say they hope the practice will become normalized. "People just came out of the woodwork. They were saying, 'Please can we have more? We can’t find it anywhere'," said Button.
The couple breastfeed many times throughout the day, she says, because "it is important emotionally and physically to us." "It feels like sinking into a warm bath and a feeling of contentment. I feel more close to him now than I feel during any other time. This is incredibly intimate. I feel very protective and that he is precious to me."
Tip, who grew up in a Korean orphanage, says he wasn't breastfed as a baby, "which is probably why I'm drawn to it so much as an adult now." Breast milk, he adds, tastes like "cold cereal milk… milk with a little bit of sugar in it. Sometimes I can taste alcohol when we’ve really been boozing it up."
