Training Camp opens in just under a month for the Portland Trail Blazers and after just over a week of practice, Portland will tip-off their preseason schedule.
This is the fifth of a seven-part mini-series where we will look at the Blazers' schedule month by month. Where are the must-win games? What stretches pose the most difficulty? Where can they not afford to slip up? We'll cover all that.
Here's the rundown of the February schedule:
2/1 - Home against Utah: Portland starts the month with the Utah Jazz on the second of a back-to-back (Portland plays the night before on the road against the Lakers). Utah is always tough, and they will be made even tougher on no rest.
2/4 - @ Denver: Portland returns to Denver for the second time this season. The two days rest will come in handy as they take on the talented Nuggets and acclimate to the Mile High City.
2/6 - Home against San Antonio: The always entertaining "LaMarcus Aldridge back in Portland" game. The Spurs are always going to Spur, but this should be a victory for the Blazers.
2/7 - @ Utah: Didn't these guys just play us a few days ago, and on the second of a back-to-back as well? What did Portland do to anger the basketball gods? Or, look at it through the eyes of a Jazz fan, "really, we have to play the Blazers again?!"
2/9 - Home against Miami: Five words - The Return of Meyers Leonard. That is all.
2/11 through 2/12 - @ New Orleans and Memphis: Before the Blazers hit the All-Star break they have a quick back-to-back road trip that will see them take on the Pelicans and the Grizzlies. The perfect duo to help the Blazers head to the break with a smile and a winning streak.
2/21 through 2/25 - Home against New Orleans, Detroit, Boston: The Blazers return home from All-Star weekend with a three-game homestand. First up, the Pelicans for the fourth and final time of the season. Then the Pistons and Celtics make their only trips of the season to Portland. It will also be the first time the Blazers play either of those teams. The most intrigue is in that game against the Celtics when Enes Kanter returns to Portland for the first time.
2/27 through 2/29 - @ Indiana and Atlanta: The month comes to an end with the first two games of a three-game road trip. The Pacers are tough, but these two squads should help the Blazers end the month on a high note.
