Braves pitcher Jacob Webb was visibly upset after he hit Kevin Pillar with a pitch in the face on Monday night.

Webb spoke to reporters on Tuesday, and was clearly still upset about the accident.

But Pillar's tweet late Monday saying he was "doing fine" made Webb feel a bit better.

"I’m just glad he’s alright. That was my main concern," Webb said.

"It’s tough, man. You never want to hurt a fellow competitor out there. We’re all here trying to do the same thing. Just a tough situation," he added.

Webb was given plenty of consolation from his teammates and coaching staff.

“Just don’t hang your head, it’s kind of part of baseball, in a way, I guess, but also just reminding me that everything’s gonna be alright," said Webb of what his clubhouse told him. "Stuff kinda happens. But at the same time, it’s tough mentally to kind of absorb that.

“Most of my teammates, and coaches and everyone have been rallying around me. Just keep me on a level head, and make sure I’m okay mentally and all that good stuff. Everyone’s been pretty good about it, everyone’s been uplifting about it. Can’t ask for more than that in that kind of situation.”

Webb said he texted Pillar after the game, and got a response from the Mets outfielder.

“When I texted him, I personally told him it wasn’t intentional at all, and kinda just, pitch kinda just got away from me right there. Other coaches obviously reached out to him as well. Everyone’s been very good about it. And it’s nice to see that everyone cares about him and everything going on and all that.”
