It surely wasn’t the deft bit of skill and masterful finish that he imagined while fantasizing about the moment as a child in his hockey-mad household, but at least Brady Tkachuk bagged some bragging rights, right?

Scoring his first career NHL goal with an unintentional deflection off the inside of his boot in just his second opportunity to lace ’em up in an NHL game, Brady became the fastest Tkachuk to score his personal icebreaker, beating brother Matthew and dad Keith by two and three games, respectively.

Here’s the goal, which you never would have known was Brady’s if it weren’t for the look on his face:

Brady wasn’t deluded, though. He knew the lucky bounce wouldn’t give him much to boast about, and admitted as much in his interview with Sportsnet between periods.

So, one shift into the second, the Tkachuk taken highest in an NHL draft added another, this one with a little more oomph:

Not a carbon copy, but there are some similarities between Brady’s second and his brother’s first, which Matthew scored in his fourth start with the Calgary Flames.

Finally, Dad is 46, and therefore his first career goal wasn’t readily available on Twitter nor Youtube.

We bet it was cool, though, Pops.
